Meet JP Park, Product Manager at TheLadders.
At TheLadders, we know a company is only as good as the employees who build it, and we're proud to have a remarkable amount of talent in our SoHo office. We’d love for you to get to know some of the extraordinary team members who make TheLadders the premier mobile career network committed to finding the right person for the right job. So sit back, relax, and enjoy a few minutes with one of our own.
What do you do at TheLadders?
I’m the Product Manager for TheLadders' recruiter app. I collaborate with UX, Design, Tech, and QA to dream up and create the great products and features at TheLadders. I’ve been with TheLadders since August 2013.
What made you decide to work at TheLadders after interviewing?
It was clear that TheLadders had a strong commitment to building great products and had built strong product, UX, and tech teams. I felt this was a place where I could contribute great ideas but learn from the people around me. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?
What’s your best work memory?
I can’t pinpoint one, but any time I’ve gone to one of our JobMobile events. There’s nothing better than talking to recruiters who are passionate about our product and want to provide feedback, positive or negative!
What do you like about working here?
The people and culture! It’s a diverse and interesting group of really smart and friendly people. Everyone wants to work together to produce great products but will still challenge and push you to be even better.
What’s your favorite NYC neighborhood?
Upper West Side. My mom went to Juilliard and some of my family still lives there; I spent a lot of time in the area: Carnegie Deli, Lincoln Center, and Zabar’s.
Where did you grow up?
Mostly in Connecticut but a good part of my life was spent in NYC, France, and Korea.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I was really into video games as a kid, so all I wanted to be was a video game designer. Not too far off from what I do now.
Which mobile app do you use the most?
I’m embarrassed to say it’s probably Facebook. A close second would be Foursquare or some cool new iOS game.
It’s 8pm on a Tuesday. What are you doing?
Going to practice, I break(dance). I’ve been dancing for almost 12 years and I just can’t stop. (Here’s proof, I go up first: http://youtu.be/yoZXfQuMj6Q)
It’s 8pm on a Saturday. What are you doing?
Probably doing one of the following: at a break(dance) competition, out with friends exploring a new restaurant or bar, or marathoning something on Netflix.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
The ability to regenerate like Wolverine.
What’s your go-to joke?
I’m more sarcastic than funny but here’s one I like: It’s hard to explain puns to kleptomaniacs, because they always take things literally.
