Meet Eric Feder, Data Scientist at TheLadders.
At TheLadders, we know a company is only as good as the employees who build it, and we're proud to have a remarkable amount of talent in our SoHo office. We’d love for you to get to know some of the extraordinary team members who make TheLadders the premier mobile career network committed to finding the right person for the right job. So sit back, relax, and enjoy a few minutes with one of our own.
What do you do at TheLadders?
I’ve been working at TheLadders as a data scientist for a year. I get to explore our data and build algorithms that help our users find what they’re looking for.
What made you decide to work at TheLadders after interviewing?
I was very excited about the opportunity to work on some really cool data problems. We’re trying to revolutionize the role that data science plays in the job search process, and that means we need to approach problems from a fresh perspective and think outside the box.
What’s your best work memory?
We recently launched a new feature called Inside Leads, which is basically a new way for us to pair jobs with job seekers and candidates with recruiters. This was the first project that I had been involved with from start to finish, so it was very rewarding to see it live on the website for the first time.
What do you like about working here?
I love how our team is able to balance a desire to get things done with a desire to have fun learning new things. As an example, every other Friday, the data science team takes a break from whatever projects we’re working on and we spend the day exploring a new data tool or topic.
What’s your favorite NYC neighborhood?
I went to Columbia, so I have a lot of fond memories from Morningside Heights.
Where did you grow up?
Forest Hills, Queens.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
In my eighth grade yearbook, I actually listed my aspiration as “Statistician,” so amazingly, not too far off from what I do now.
Which mobile app do you use the most?
MLB.com At Bat.
It’s 8pm on a Tuesday. What are you doing?
Either watching the Mets game or watching Jeopardy! I’m a little obsessed with both.
It’s 8pm on a Saturday. What are you doing?
Relaxing with my wife or hanging out with our friends.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Time travel – there’s so many moments from history that I’d love to see firsthand.
What’s your go-to joke?
When my wife was eight, she was really proud that she made up this joke:
What does the dentist say at the end of the day? Time to plaque up!
