Mobile innovations and tips to get you thinking about integrating new technology into your recruiting strategies.

Mobile Recruiting Trends at TheLadders' JobMobile Summit

As a mobile-first technology company, TheLadders is dedicated to bringing you into the mobile era with confidence. Many recruiters, however, have been slow to integrate these new technologies into their recruitment strategies. To draw you one step closer to this goal, TheLadders is hosting a series of JobMobile events throughout the United States. During these gatherings, we discuss the triumphs and tribulations we’ve all experienced adapting mobile into our businesses.

TheLadders JobMobile Summit 2013 was in New York City last week, and we hope you had a great time! If you weren’t able to attend, check out our JobMobile site for other upcoming local events. In case you missed the conference, here are a few highlights from the event:

1. World-class speakers and talent acquisition panelists.

The two-day event hosted speakers from many cutting-edge companies, including Google, HowAboutWe, Weight Watchers, comScore, Tumblr and more. These speakers examined how mobile affected their businesses, and the strides they’ve taken to work with new technologies and pioneer innovative products and strategies. If you weren’t at the Summit or want to watch your favorite speaker again, tune in on October 7th when we’ll post video of their presentations.

2. Tactical tips on integrating mobile into your recruiting

All the speakers were phenomenal, but everyone was buzzing after JobMobile panelist Eric Jaquith’s speech. The global recruiting strategy and innovation specialist outlined innumerable strategies for using mobile technology to your advantage. One example that seems so obvious yet few recruiters do is embed maps and company links into emails so your star recruits can quickly access information even while they’re on-the-go. Eric’s full speech will be available to watch on October 7, but in the meantime you can browse his slides for ideas.

3. We learned that you might be missing 30% of your target candidates

Eli Goodman, Brand Evangelist at comScore, told us that over 30% of traffic to career services sites comes from mobile devices. If your company doesn’t have an app or a mobile-optimized website, you could be losing a huge piece of your candidate pool. Additionally, if you’re not able to reach these potential recruits while they’re busy on mobile devices, you could miss top talent. This makes mobile strategy integration more important than ever.

4. Networking opportunities with your peers

As talent acquisition specialists, you can all attest to the power of a strong network. The JobMobile Summit had a great turnout with recruiters and hiring managers from companies like Birchbox, Whole Foods, McGraw-Hill, Apple and more. The Atlanta and Boston JobMobile events are certain to draw similar professionals, and you’ll have the opportunity to mingle and share your recruiting stories and strategies (Hopefully TheLadders’ free recruiting tool is among them!).

5. Motivational speaker Matt Long

Yes, he could be lumped in with the “World-class speakers,” but Matt was on a totally different level. He was struck and critically injured by a bus in 2005, and has since made a miraculous recovery based on his strong will, going on to compete in the grueling Ironman triathlon, and to inspire us all. Matt started the I Will Foundation to support individuals with life-altering illnesses or traumatic injuries. Matt gave us all perspective, and made the challenges of mobile recruiting seem small.
